About Me
Well there isn’t a whole lot to say about myself but I’ll throw a couple tidbits out just for the heck of it:
1. As of right now when I’m writing this, my name is Thomas H. Chapin IV and I am 24 years of age.
2. I worked full-time as a web designer for DSBWorldWide (http://www.dsbworldwide.com) in Sherman, Texas from the age of 16 to 22.
3. I recently moved to Phoenix, Arizona to work at Tornado Design (http://www.tornadodesign.com) as a business partner.
4. I like to amuse myself by buying and selling items to a point that I hardly ever retain an item for any extended period of time. For example, I bought a pair of Bose QuietComfort headphones for $150 and a month later (when I was bored of them) I sold them on ebay for $175. I have also gone through three xboxes over the years, somehow managing to make a minor profit on every single one.
5. I have bad luck with cars. They always either break down or fall into the aforementioned category of being bought and sold shortly after (Although I have yet to turn any sort of profit in the car category, barely coming out even most of the time, and even losing as much as $4000 once). The cars I have owned so far: 1985 Camaro, 1993 MX6, 2002 Chevy Blazer Xtreme, 1990 Mazda Miata, 1998 Mustang GT, 1984 Rx7, and now I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R. I intend to keep this car for a long time though, because I actually have a warranty this time, and it’s the first car that I’ve actually gone the payment route on so I can’t really escape it easily.
6. There are oddities/eccentricities about me that nobody believes (except for maybe one person I know) and I hardly mention these things anymore because everyone just laughs. For instance, my very first memory was of before I was born. I can’t really recall much but I distinctly remember a sense of dark “pinkness” enveloping me. My second memory was a sense of pressure all over me (I can only assume this was when I was being born). And my third memory was of blurry shapes which I later on figured out must have been people looking at me.
When I first learned how to talk, I remember going around asking other children if they could remember being born and was amazed that hardly anyone could. I simply couldn’t understand it. I also remember a number of other things from an early age, such as when I started walking at around 6 months old. I also remember climbing out of my crib all the time.
I remember countless incidents and events throughout my childhood that I like to look back on and think about. Ask me some time… I can tell some crazy stories of my childhood.
And yet for the life of me, I can’t remember when either of my two older sisters’ birthdays are. Or any other huge number of little things. My memory is like swiss cheese sometimes. The only way I am able to lead a semi-productive life is by leaving notes to myself all the time.
However, one time I was stuck about an hour from home and I had just bought a full tank of gas when I realized I had left my debit card at home and didn’t have any cash. While sitting there trying to sort out my predicament, I had a memory flash. My entire credit card number, including expiration date popped into my head. So I went inside the gas station, asked the attendant if he could punch the numbers into the machine (as if the card was scratched), and he said yes. So I recited the numbers, waited for the charge to go through, signed the slip, and went on my merry way.
Crazy huh?
